The Pro Bowl rosters have been drafted. Here’s what Chris Carter came up with for his ‘real’ fantasy football team.

This season marks the second time the NFL has gone to the very freestyle-like “draft format” for the Pro-Bowl. Last year we saw two legends in Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders have the honor of being named the first two captains in this format.

It turned out to be an interesting spectacle.

Taking a fantasy-football like approach, the crowd was pumped, the players (that were there) were into it, and both Rice and Sanders did their part.

Sanders wound up with the first pick in the draft and took Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. We also found out that just like fantasy football operates, the Pro-Bowl fantasy draft also neglects the big-heavies and the non-descript positions.

They call it Day 1, but in actuality it’s just a day to draft positions like center, guard, defensive tackle, fullback, kicker and punter on a day that doesn’t have to be televised. Saving time for everybody (thank god).

Unlike those guys though, one guy that’s getting plenty of respect at this event is Luck, as former Minnesota Viking wide-out and Pro Football Hall of Famer Chris Carter made him the first-pick on Day 2 this season. This marked the second straight season Luck has gone number-one overall.

JJ Watt made the announcement for Team Carter has he shouted out we want the “neckbeard with the arm.”

After his counterpart, three-time Super Bowl Champion with the Dallas Cowboys, Michael Irvin, responded with Tony Romo as his first selection (Cowboys will be Cowboys I suppose), Carter responded with Cincinnati Bengals wide-receiver AJ Green.

For his third selection he continued the offensive trend selecting Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles.

It was all offense for Carter. That was until we hit the fourth-round when the crowd really got into the draft.

Having the pro-bowl in Arizona, site of the Super Bowl, the crowd let out a big yell when their hometown corner-back Patrick Peterson was drafted to Team Carter.

Although there is strong sentiment to finally get rid of the game and only announce rosters, if this year’s game resembles the close finish we saw last year the league will take it.

DeMarco Murray caught an Alex Smith touchdown pass with only 41 seconds remaining in the game. Instead of heading for the tie, the gambler that is Jerry Rice decided to send fullback Mike Tolbert in for the two-point conversion and steal the win.

The Pro-Bowl is this Saturday at 8 pm ET and will be televised on ESPN.
