The New England Patriots are the story that keeps on giving for sports fans and Julian Edelman offered some comedic relief and reminded us of Growing Pains in the wake of the deflate-gate scandal.

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady addressed the media on Thursday to answer questions about the scandal that has dominated the NFL world after 11 of their 12 balls were found to be under-inflated.

Both Belichick and Brady denied any knowledge of intentionally breaking the league rules and tampering with the balls in any manner, but a punishment from the league is likely forthcoming. Whether you believe Belichick and Brady is up to the league to prove they knowingly broke the rules and are cheaters as they’ve been labeled in the media.

This story has hijacked the lead up to the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 and given a black eye to the Patriots organization who have their second cheating scandal in the last decade.

In an attempt to lighten the mood in Foxboro, wide receiver Julian Edelman posted a downright hilarious video spoof of Growing Pains that is sure to put a depressed Patriots fan in a lighter mood.

Children of the 80s will no doubt love this mashup that was posted to Edelman’s YouTube channel as memories of the Seaver family start flooding in.

I’ll admit I watched the family comedy with Jason, Maggie, Mike, Carol and Ben back in the day when I was growing up and have even tuned into the reruns on late night cable to take a stroll down memory lane.

After clicking play on Edelman’s video and heard the opening bars to the theme song I immediately knew this was pure Internet gold created by the Patriots receiver.

The pictures Edelman got his hands on , including pictures of a young Bill Belichick is sure to make you hit replay a few times and before you know it the song will be stuck in your head as it is mine. Sorry about the song stuck in your head, but that’s the price to pay for this great bit of comedy.
