Midseason NBA Player Rankings: Steph Curry vs. James Harden
By Bryce Olin
3. Anthony Davis
24.2 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 2.9 BPG, 31.6 PER
Anthony Davis played his first game in the last week against the Lakers on Wednesday night. Davis had been out with a sprained toe. Normally, that’d mean Davis would slip a bit in the rankings, but I think his play over the course of the season speaks for itself.
Davis is averaging 24.2 points this season and ranks third in the league in scoring behind James Harden and LeBron James.
Plus, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, the two players ranked behind Davis in the ranking, have both missed time this season. No harm, no foul.
Against the Lakers, Davis got back to his usually awesome self with 29 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks in the win.
Davis has been fantastic this season. If the Pelicans could just get him another shooting guard/small forward, Davis would have more room to operate on offense and could relentlessly attack.
Davis is seeing more and more double-teams as the season has gone on. He’s going to have to learn to deal with that. For now, though, we’re seeing one of the league’s best players develop into a superstar.
Enjoy it while it last and before he starts dunking on all of us!
Next: James Harden
