Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets are playing very well right now, but that doesn’t make up for months of misery and sadness. Coming into the year, there were lofty expectations in North Carolina, as the Hornets made a surprise visit to the playoffs last season on the strength of an impressive defense. However, things have fallen flat for the most part.

Yes, Charlotte has won 8 of their last 10 games, but that only brings the Hornets to a dismal 18-25 on the season, and that is a far cry from the playoff goals that were set before them. Lance Stephenson (38.2% shooting, 10.2 PER) has been an utter disaster, Al Jefferson has battled injuries, and only a recent explosion from Kemba Walker has given Hornets fans anything to grasp on to for future success.

Admittedly, Charlotte is firmly in the playoff race by nature of the East, but it is tough to compliment this group for their first half showing. Without the recent 10-game uptick, things would be worse, but a free pass would be irresponsible.
