The Miami Marlins are looking to extend the career of Ichiro Suzuki, as the ball club is nearing a contract with the aging future Hall of Famer.
There have been few players as special as Ichiro Suzuki and there won’t be many more like him. In an era of the slugger, which has been reborn out of the ashes of the steroids era with stars like Mike Trout and Giancarlo Stanton, Ichiro’s stats are unrivaled in a number of ways.

He had a long career with the Seattle Mariners before inevitably moving on the New York Yankees — who probably would have rather had him a decade ago than in his declining state. Still, there seems to be tread on the tires for Ichiro as the Miami Marlins are ready to bring him in for a try.
According to Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports, the Marlins have agreed to ta one-year deal with the 41-year old outfielder.

Since coming into the league in 2000, Ichiro has amassed 2,844 hits in his career which places him 46th All-Time in MLB history. But if you factor in the 1,278 hits he got during his career in Japan, then Ichiro has a grand total of 4,122 career hits which is best for third All-Time ahead of Stan Musial, Tris Speaker and Hank Arron and just 69 hits behind Ty Cobb.
He won’t get enough hits in his MLB career to rank in the Top 10, but playing in the National League won’t afford him the chance to be a DH. Then again, Ichiro is a base hit batter, as he can still slap a single like the best of them and has plenty of more chances to rise up the all-time hits list before he eventually calls it a career.
