Rob Chudzinski drawing interest from 49ers, Rams
By Josh Hill
Rob Chudzinski is set to receive interest from the 49ers and Rams about becoming an offensive coordinator in 2015.
The Indianapolis Colts are currently blocking Rob Chudzinski from interviewing with other teams, but that’s something that is going to change very soon. It’s not that the Colts are going to finally allow Chudzinski to interview out of the goodness in their heart, it’s because in a few days they’ll no longer have the coach under contract.
Rob Chudzinski’s contract with the Colts expires on Monday, and when that happens he’s expected to receive plenty of interest from two massive NFC teams.
According to Alex Marvez from FOX Sports, the San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams are expected to have interest in bringing on Chudzinski as an offensive coordinator when his contract with the Colts expires on Monday.
Chudzinski has come a long way from where he was this time last year. After the Cleveland Browns put together a promising season, Chudzinski was fired after just one season and saw his dream of being an NFL head coach taken away from him abruptly.
He moved on to the Colts where he has rebuilt his reputation under the guidance of Chuck Pagano, and his opportunity to become a head coach once again seems to be nearing.
He won’t get a head coaching job in 2015, but he’s getting a promotion nonetheless. Chudzinski was a special assistant with the Colts but will become an offensive coordinator for either Jeff Fisher in St. Louis or become the guy in charge of developing Colin Keapernick in San Francisco.
Either way, Chudzinski is back on the rise in the NFL and that’s a good thing. He was much loved in Cleveland by his players, who were not shy about voicing their displeasure over his firing in early 2014. Chudzinski may not be a legendary coach on the outs, but he’s a guy who a lot of people are rooting for after the way he was treated in his final days in Cleveland.
