Wednesday night, Sterling, who has seen his team win everything, lost everything in a massive apartment complex fire in New Jersey.
According to the New York Daily News, the fire started around 4:3o p.m. at the Avalon at Edgewater apartments.
Sterling commented how he smelt smoke and got out of their quickly.
“On one side of the building the elevators had already been shut down. I went to my elevators (at the back of the building) and tried walking in, but the smoke was so intense I said to myself, ‘John, you better get the hell out of here.’ So I just drove away,” he said to the paper.
However, Sterling is afraid like many others that he has lost everything to the terrible blaze.
John has moved into a hotel for the night but is worried he might have lost everything in the fire. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Sterling told me he has "teared up about 20 times" both thinking of displaced families from fire and about outpouring of support for him.

This is a horrible event that happened to a good guy, and you can only hope that he and the families who have been displaced didn’t lose everything to the fire.
The size of the fire was large enough to register as a *5 alarm* fire.

Hopefully Sterling along with everyone who lost their livelihood can quickly find peace of mind and have a place to call home.
