The Chicago Bulls are paying tribute to their former forward Luol Deng

Luol Deng is returning to Chicago Sunday with his new team the Miami Heat, when the two teams square off in a Sunday Matinee. Deng, the longtime Bulls star, was traded from Chicago to Cleveland last season and ended up signing in Miami after LeBron James left. In a classy gesture, the Bulls honored Deng with a thank you message on the video board before tip-off Sunday afternoon.

The product out of Duke, spent 2004-2014 with the Bulls, becoming a fan favorite and an integral part of many postseason teams the Chicago Bulls had in that time.

He went to two All-Star games in his time in Chicago and was one of the better defensive players in the game making the NBA All-Defensive second team in 2012.

After everything he gave the franchise and the time he spent there it is only fitting they gave him a thank you message.

It’s a great gesture by Chicago to honor of their former players and one that was a successful player for them as well.

He now finds himself, much like he was in Chicago, in a playoff race with the struggling Miami Heat, who are hoping to hold on to their spot in the Eastern Conference standings and get a spot in the postseason where anything can happen.

The Bulls on the flip side are one of the top teams in the east and are considered by many to be the favorites to represent the east in the NBA Finals heading in the postseason because of their size up front and their postseason experience.

Deng was a big part of the growth of that postseason experience for this current Bulls squad and today he is being rightfully honored for doing so.
