Cleveland Browns issue statement on Josh Gordon
By Evan Massey
The Cleveland Browns issued a statement on star wide receiver Josh Gordon after his latest substance abuse run-in.
Josh Gordon has been in the news for off-field issues often throughout his NFL career, and he saw his name in the headlines once again this afternoon. Gordon reportedly failed yet another drug test that puts his availability in 2015 in jeopardy.
The Cleveland Browns could look to cut ties with Gordon following his latest misstep, and the team issued a statement on the entire situation.
Gordon only played in five regular season games during the 2014 season due to a suspension from his previous substance abuse issue. He caught 24 passes for 303 yards, but didn’t catch a touchdown.
It is a very disappointing piece of news for the Browns, and it will force them to give some attention to wide receivers this coming offseason.
Cleveland already has enough issues figuring out its quarterback situation, but now they’ll have to find targets for whoever they go with at quarterback. There is quite a bit of talent at wide receiver in both free agency and the draft, so the Browns shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a player or two to bring on board.
All of that said, it’s tough to see a talented 23-year-old growing star throwing away his career like Gordon has been. Hopefully he will be able to get his act together.
