Odell Beckham Jr. played through hamstring tear all year
By Cory Buck
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. revealed after the Pro Bowl that he played all year with a tear in his hamstring.
Odell Beckham Jr. dropped the mic on one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory with an equally impressive Pro Bowl that saw the New York Giants receiver make the same types of acrobatic catches we watched him make all season.

Then after the Pro Bowl ended and the mic was back in Beckham’s hand, he dropped it again, admitting that he was dealing with a hamstring tear throughout this impressive season. At this point, we just want Odell to take it easy because A) we can’t have him getting injured and B) we are running out of microphones.
“They healed up enough to where I could play with them, but they were never truly good and I’m still just working on them and trying to get ready,” Beckham Jr. said per the New York Post.
Odell Beckham Jr. racked up 91 catches for 1,305 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in a season that didn’t begin for him until Week 5 as the rookie dealt with the very hamstring tear of which he spoke. We speak for every NFL fan out there when we say ‘You could have fooled us’.
The concern from here naturally turns to next season. NFL players are notorious for playing through injury, but these types of ailments can linger for months and make a full recovery tougher. Will we get to see the human highlight reel back at full health in the 2015 season?
“I should be good by training camp,” Beckham said. “The plan is to play at full strength next season, and I definitely hope to do it. I’m just looking forward to getting healthy.”
If the Giants want to stop wasting great seasons from unheralded receivers, they’ll need to fortify the team around Beckham and quarterback Eli Manning. The team sported the 23rd ranked running game in support of the pass, and the defense proved more hindrance than help, sitting in the bottom ten in points allowed while allowing the fourth most yards per game.
But when you have the big play potential that the Giants have with Odell Beckham Jr., you don’t have to be perfect. You just have to hang around. With a healthy second-year receiver having honed his craft, the Giants could be a team look out for depending on how they improve this offseason.
