Super Bowl 2015: Ranking all 48 Super Bowls
By Andrew Ross
36.) Super Bowl XIX – San Francisco 49ers vs. Miami Dolphins
It was built up as the quarterback battle of Joe Montana against Dan Marino, but it was Montana who had the better team and won 38-16.
However, that’s not to say that the quarterback battle wasn’t entertaining.
Montana won Super Bowl MVP for completing 24/35 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns, and Marino completed 29/50 passes for 318 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
It was the first time that both quarterbacks threw for over 300 yards in the history of the big game.
The Dolphins had a 10-7 lead after the first quarter, but the 49ers scored 21 straight points in the second quarter that ended up putting the game away.
San Francisco and Miami combined for 851 yards which was a Super Bowl record at the time.
