The cast for the all-female reboot of ‘Ghostbusters’ announced.
As we’ve previously reported on, an all-female reboot of the classic eighties comedy Ghostbusters has been in the works as of late. With Oscar-nominated director Paul Feig (director of Bridesmaids and The Heat) at the helm of the project, sources have it that the cast has finally been chosen for the anticipated movie.
The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that Melissa McCarthy has signed on to the project, and now Kristen Wiig and Saturday Night Live’s Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are now wheeling and dealing for roles. Though it isn’t official as of yet, Feig did tweet this promising photo today:

With Feig directing, fans of the original movie can rest assure that their beloved franchise is in good hands.

“I love the first one so much I don’t want to do anything to ruin the memory of that,” Feig sad in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “So it just felt like, let’s just restart it because then we can have new dynamics.”
Which means fans can expect a fresh take on the legacy of Venkman and his cohorts. Since sequels and remakes do often run the risk of playing it safe, rehashing old gags and story lines from previous movies that worked and hoping they will again (looking at you Dumb and Dumber), the Feig’s work on the movie can offer up a new direction for the beloved comedy. Plus, with such a baller cast of funny ladies playing the titular characters, we can be sure that the movie will be something to look forward to.
This isn’t the first time there were talks of another Ghostbusters, though. Plans for another Ghostbusters movie had been in talks for years, with even the original director Ivan Reitman planning on directing it again. However, when Harold Ramis died last year, Reitman decided to drop himself from the project.
