Matt Barnes goes on Twitter rant about fine
By Robby Sabo
Los Angeles Clippers swing-man Matt Barnes takes to Twitter, of course, to rant and rave about his latest fines from the NBA.
Los Angeles Clippers swing-man Matt Barnes has been fined a total of $25,000 by the NBA for use of inappropriate language towards a fan in his team’s game against the Phoenix Suns this past Sunday.
His team won the game 120-100, but all anybody wanted to discuss was Barnes’ antics.
Barnes apparently want to discuss it too as he took to Twitter tonight:
If one doesn’t care about a fine, then why is one complaining about it so publicly?
Kids, here’s a quick and easy lesson for you: if you happen to become a professional athlete or any public figure when you grow up, do not do what Barnes just did. In fact, store this in your memory bank and remember to do the exact opposite.
Punch a pillow, scream at the top of your lungs, or maybe pace around the room for a while. Do not go on a Twitter rant. Nothing good can come from it.
We’ve seen a countless number of incidents from the past where Twitter only gets people into trouble.
Aside from looking like a loose cannon, Barnes is going to drag on a situation that won’t head anywhere. Regardless if his target was the owner of the Suns, don’t use profanity directed anywhere towards the paying audience.
Sure, does it happen on the court? Of course. It always has and always will. But there is a clear line that everybody knows cannot be crossed when it comes to this matter, and Barnes crossed it.
In the coming days we’ll have to see if Suns owner Robert Sarver crossed that line as well.
