17. Jerry Rice in Super Bowl XXIII

WR, San Francisco 49ers

Trust me, this isn’t the last of Jerry Rice that you’ll see on this list. However, this was the Super Bowl that he won the MVP award for. Rice led the San Francisco 49ers to a 20-16 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 22, 1989. He hauled in one touchdown on the day, a score that tied the game at 13, but dominated all game.

As it often happened in Rice’s career, the Bengals simply could not guard him. He caught 11 passes on the day for a Super Bowl record 215 receiving yards. That type of dominance is what gets remembered long after careers are over. This game was Rice’s second Super Bowl championship and the 49ers dynasty’s third. It is beyond obvious that this team, and dynasty, wouldn’t have been near as special without him.
