11. Phil Simms in Super Bowl XXI

QB, New York Giants

Phil Simms played a nearly perfect football game in Super Bowl XXI on Jan. 25, 1987. He completed 22 of his 25 pass attempts en route to a 39-20 win over the Denver Broncos. He was incredibly efficient and threw for three touchdowns and zero interceptions on the day. His performance is still fresh in the minds of Giants fans throughout New York and the country.

Two of Simms’ three touchdown passes came in the second half including the pass that gave the Giants a 16-10 lead in the third quarter. New York wouldn’t look back after taking the lead and Simms would be named the game’s MVP. He spread the ball around as five Giants players caught at least three passes in this game. It should be noted that he ran for 25 yards in the game as well.
