Z

I’m just sticking with the letter “Z”. The letter is representative, obviously, of the end of the alphabet, and at least in that sense shares characteristics with the Greek letter “Omega”, which means “great O” and is used in the Bible as the latter half of Alpha and Omega. In other words, the 2014 football season is over.

If you’re like me, and have sat through a season which has stunk for your team, you are happy to see it end. That end provides a merciful recluse until the draft, at least, where we don’t have to be reminded our teams stink. Sure Super Bowl XLIX looks great on paper, but it will be tough watching the game as a fan of a team which started the season with seemingly reasonable championship expectations, only to stink them away to a 7-9 record.

And to use lower case “zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…” we are of course denoting the idea of sleep. As in put this season to bed. It’s over. One team and their fan base will not want to go bed at the end of Super Bowl XLIX. Everyone else will be thankful for the end of the season.
