The boxing mega-fight called for by fans around the world seems to be edging closer to becoming a reality, after Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao met in private to discuss terms.
Just hours after the two boxing legends had a public face-to-face meeting during halftime of the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks game, Mayweather and Pacquiao met privately for over an hour to further discuss conditions for the proposed May 2 fight.

The two fighters met inside Pacquiao’s hotel suite, discussing terms about the fight. It was the first time the two have ever sat eye to eye, and representatives of Pacquiao were encouraged by the business meeting.
“You could tell by their body language that this was very positive. It was for a good hour or more,” Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz, told ESPN.
Both fighters have been negotiating what is sure to be one of the biggest spectacles boxing has ever seen, and undoubtedly the richest bout in the sport’s long history.
“I think people are just tired of all of this. Me and Manny, and maybe Floyd, we’re tired of the fans and everybody, everywhere we go continually asking us when the fight will happen. Boxing needs this fight to happen and it needs to happen in May,” said Koncz.
There has been huge interest in a Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown since 2009, but several negotiations have broken down over the years. However, the current round of negotiations, according to representatives of both parties, is the closest it has ever been since the initial negotiations in 2009 and 2010 fell apart because of a disagreement over how to carry out the drug testing for the bout.
According to sources involved in the talks, they have agreed to the drug testing protocol, among many others aspects of the fight. Should Pacquiao and Mayweather meet in the ring, the fight — which will be worth hundreds of millions of dollars — is expected to shatter every revenue record in boxing history.
