2. player. 13.
Junior Seau was one of the most passionate players to ever play the game and made 12 Pro Bowl teams and was a 10-time All-Pro and a member of the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade Team.

Seau played the first 13 years of his 20-year career with the hometown San Diego Chargers where he was born in 1969 and near USC where he was an All-American in 1989. The Chargers spend the fifth overall pick on the inside linebacker in the 1990 draft and he proceeded to make the Pro Bowl every year he was in a Chargers uniform.

The Chargers traded Seau to the Dolphins where he played three seasons but the last two were shortened due to injuries. As a result, Seau announced his retirement after the Dolphins cut him in 2006 but four days later signed with the New England Patriots and played 38 games over four seasons. He fell short of winning that elusive Super Bowl that had dodged him since losing Super Bowl XXIX but made it to Super Bowl XLII with the Pats.

He retired with 1,846 combined tackles, 56.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 18 fumble recoveries and 18 interceptions.

Seau died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest on May 2, 2012. His suicide prompted speculation that he suffered from CTE, a condition related to concussion-related brain damage but an autopsy report showed no signs of brain damage.
. LB. SD, MIA, NE. Junior Seau
