STL, NYG,AZ. Kurt Warner. 1. player. 51.
Kurt Warner is one of the greatest Cinderella stories in all of sports after beginning his professional career in the Arena Football League and NFL Europe before signing with the St. Louis Rams in 1998. Warner would only complete 4-of-11 passes in 1998 to set the stage for one of the most unlikely stories of NFL history one year later.

Warner began the 1999 season as the backup to Trent Green but after he tore his ACL in the preseason, Warner was promoted to the starter and had one of the best seasons ever by a quarterback with 4,353 yards, 41 touchdown passes 65.1 completion percentage en route to winning the NFL MVP award.

Leading the “Greatest Show on Turf” with Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, Warner led the NFL in completion percentage three times, touchdowns twice, yards once and won two MVP’s while leading the Rams to a pair of Super Bowls.

With Warner under center the Rams scored 500 points for an NFL-record three straight years but after losing to the Patriots after winning his second MVP, Warner would never win another game for the Rams over the next two seasons. Warner went 0-7 the next two years that were mired with injury, interceptions and a six-fumble game that led to his benching and later his release in 2004.

Warner signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants and beat out No. 1 pick Eli Manning in their first year in the Big Apple, but after losing two games in a row to drop to 5-4 on the year, Warner was benched and he’d void the last year of his deal.

He signed with the Arizona Cardinals where he had a career renaissance and resembled the player we saw during his time with the Rams, but it took three years in the desert to find himself. After two lackluster seasons and a 3-12 record his first two seasons in Arizona, Warner supplanted Matt Leinart as the starter with the Cardinals and threw for 27 touchdowns and 3,417 yards for his best season in six years.

The 2008 season saw Warner make his first Pro Bowl since 2001 when he threw for 4,583 yards, the second highest of his career, and 30 touchdowns to set a franchise record and a trip to the Super Bowl against the Steelers. Warner threw for 377 yards and completed 72.1 percent of his passes in the loss, but has the three highest passing totals in Super Bowl history.

Warner would take the Cardinals back to the playoffs in 2009 before losing to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Round after he was knocked out of the game due to injury.

This is the first year that Warner was eligible for the Hall of Fame.

He finished his career with 32,344 yards, 208 touchdowns, 128 interceptions, a 65.5 completion percentage, 93.7 quarterback rating and a 66-49 career record. His 260.8 yards per game ranks fifth all-time.
. QB
