11. player. 123.
After a Hall of Fame career as a college head coach, Jimmy Johnson was named the successor to Tom Landry with the Dallas Cowboys and the second head coach in franchise history. After a rocky start that saw the Cowboys go 1-15 in his first season, the team was remade under Johnson who orchestrated the Herschel Walker trade that served as the catalyst for their Super Bowl run a few years later.

The trade netted the Cowboys a number of high draft picks where Johnson showed an eye for talent dating back to his days as the head coach at Miami. He drafted Hall of Famer’s Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith and went from one win to seven to 11 in his third year. His fourth and fifth years ended with the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl and Jonson is one of six head coaches to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

After leaving the Cowboys amid a strained relationship with owner Jerry Jones, Johnson coached the Miami Dolphins for four seasons, compiling a 36-28 record with three playoff appearances and a 2-3 postseason record.
. Head Coach. DAL, MIA. Jimmy Johnson
