Players can be bruised, scarred and battered through 40 plus minutes of a hard fought contest, yet all the glory goes to the player who nails the game winner that took your breath away.
The Women’s basketball team of Lafayette College pulled together recently as they overcame a 23-point halftime deficit to knock off Colgate on Wednesday night. Lafayette outscored their opponents 39-14 in the second half to steal the win.
Though it was a complete team effort on the part of Lafayette, there’s one play that’ll be remembered for a while on campus.
With just 25.1 seconds to go and the game knotted up at 56 a piece, Junior guard Jamie O’Hare was inbounding the ball under the basket.
What she did next has been seen many times in basketball history, but rarely with the game on the line:
For the record I don’t think she established her right foot before grabbing the ball, but still the play is worthy of incredible.
That turned out to be the last basket of the game as Lafayette took the game 58-56. O’Hare finished with a game high 18 points.
