Marshawn Lynch snubs media in awkward interview, again
By Alan Condon
Marshawn Lynch completely disregarded all media questions in his mandatory interview slot, making a point of the nonsensical nature of Super Bowl week, where both players and fans become exhausted with the vast overdose of media coverage.
We all know that Super Bowl week is the biggest week of the year for football players fortunate enough to progress to the championship game, but the media coverage involved becomes tiresome for everyone. Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s “interview” — if you can call it that — completely encapsulates some of the players’ attitudes to their obligatory commitments.

Lynch gives a brief introduction about the futility of his presence, and expresses his disdain for his mandatory media requirements which he clearly sees as a distraction from his preparation for the big game.
“I’m here, I’m available for ya’ll. I done talked, so all of my requirements are fulfilled, so for this next three minutes, I’ll just be lookin’ at ya’ll the way you be lookin’ at me,” said Lynch.
Certain journalists tried to pull a line out of the Seahawks star, like blood from a stone, but Lynch wasn’t budging. He then proceeded to completely ignore a series of optimistic half-assed questions and delivered a number of “shoutouts.”
“Shout out Oakland, California. Shout out Westbrook. Shout out my teammates. Shout out to my real Africans out there. Ya’ll got another minute to look at me though.” said Lynch.

Here is the full lecture from Lynch, as transcribed by Next Impulse Sports:
“All week, I’ve been telling you all what’s up. And for some reason, you continue to come back and do the same thing that you all did. I don’t know what story you all trying to get out of me. I don’t know what image you’re all trying to portray of me but it don’t matter what you all think, what you all say about me because when I go home at night, the same people that I look in the face, my family that I love, that’s all that really matters to me. So y’all can go and make up whatever you want to make up because I don’t say enough to go and put anything out on them.
But I’ll come to y’all event and y’all shove cameras and microphones down my throat but when I’m at home in my environment, I don’t see y’all but y’all made at me. And if you aren’t made at me then what are you here for? I ain’t got nothing for you though… I told you all that so you all should know that. But you all will sit here, like right now, and continue to do the same thing. I’m here preparing for a game and you all are asking me all these questions which is understandable. I can get in with that. But I told you all, I’m not about to say nothing. So for the remainder of my, what’s that, three minutes, because I’m here, I’m available for y’all, I’m here, I’m available for y’all. I done talked. All my requirements are fulfilled. So now, this next three minutes, I’ll just be looking at y’all like the way that you all are looking at me. Thank you.”
