All records are meant to be broken, even ones that last for less than a day, as Iowa receiver Tevaun Smith broke Odell Beckham’s record for one-handed catches in one minute the day after the Giants receiver accomplished the feat.

Odell Beckham’s name didn’t last very long in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The New York Giants receiver who just had one of the best seasons we’ve seen from a first-year receiver teamed up with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees on Thursday to set the Guinness World Record for one-handed catches with 33.

They shattered the previous record of 10, but now they’re sitting in second place after Iowa receiver Tevaun Smith broke the record with 41 one-handed catches on Friday.

Pretty cool. What helped Smith is his quarterback was getting him the ball in a rapid fashion and didn’t have to wait for the ball to get to him like Beckham had to wait on Brees for a few of his balls to arrive.

The balls came in rhythm and the duo never got disrupted despite moving bodies around them as they set out to break the record. So pretty cool moment for Smith to best the record set by one of the NFL’s best young talents and a blossoming superstar.

In a 60-second span, Smith nearly eclipsed the amount of balls he caught in 2014 for the Hawkeyes after he caught 43 passes for 596 yards and three touchdowns. Now that he’s made a bigger name for himself, keep your eyes open to see what he can do on the gridiron next year.

And with Smith breaking the record less than 24 hours after Beckham broke the record you can rest assured that we haven’t seen the last of these record-breaking attempts and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see someone catch 50 balls with one hand in the coming days.
