Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. says his famous catch vs. Dallas has changed his life.

If you answer yes to this question, raise your hand: how many of you all knew who Odell Beckham Jr. was  before his amazzzzzzing one-handed catch that’ll forever live in NFL lore?

Well,  I can say that I didn’t, but like thousands across the nation, I am now very familiar with Beckham Jr. and all of what he’s accomplished as an NFL rookie. And because of ‘the catch’, ODB says things have changed now as he’s drawing far more attention out in public than he was before becoming an internet sensation.

From Sports Illustrated:

"I’m a very humble person, I’ve been humbled a lot,” he said. “So I walk into places and I just think of myself as normal and as soon as I walk in somewhere it’s ‘You wanna take a picture?’ ‘Can I get an autograph?’ or something like that. It’s just something that I’m not exactly used to and am trying to get used to.”"

If you’ve noticed, football players don’t possess the most familiar faces, in comparison to superstars in the NBA. Why? Because for the

60 minutes

3 hours a week that we see them, they’re hidden by helmets. So when you become an extremely popular face, a la Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, etc. (aka any NFL quarterback), that means you’ve done something or are doing something spectacular.

And that’s exactly Odell Beckham Jr. did.

Every year we see spectacular plays, whether it’s a flip, catch, juke, or something flashy, but what ODB did was LEGENDARY.

Personally, I’ve never seen a catch as good as that one and I’m sure many could agree with that sentiment. Some that I’d put in the same category as ODB? I’d mark them as lucky, but as ODB has shown us time and time again in post-catch practices, his was just a lot of skill. I don’t know how he does it or what scientific genes he possesses (I’m convinced he’s a Dr. Gero creation like LeBron James), but those catches are routine for him.

Not to mention that Beckham is just a good wide reciever. By the end of his rookie season, Beckham finished fourth all-time in receiving yards by a rookie (1305 — behind Bill Groman, Anquan Boldin, Randy Moss), 5th in receiving touchdowns by a rookie (12 — behind Moss, Bill Howton, John Jefferson, Groman), and could top things off with an Offensive Rookie of the Year award, joining Percy Harvin, Boldin, Moss and Carl Pickens as the most recent receivers to bring home the award.

Not bad company, right?

As I’ve talked about the catch many times,  I figured we deserved to watch it so here’s the video below!
