Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick had differing answers when asked if the Super Bowl is “fun.”
One thing is clear when watching Pete Carroll coach: the enthusiastic 63-year-old has fun on the job. The same can’t be said for New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick who often looks like a grump when on the sideline.

So football fans shouldn’t be too surprised that the two coaches disagreed when asked whether they believe the Super Bowl is fun.
From Pro Football Talk:
"It’s been nothing but fun,” Carroll said. “The opportunity that presents itself playing in this game is so special and so unique. Everybody is tuned in and we’re grateful for being here. Thrilled to have the matchup that we have with a great organization in Bill and New England.”Belichick replied: “I don’t think fun is the word that I’d use. It’s been a huge challenge. It’s a tough team to prepare for, but I certainly have all the respect in the world for them. I could see why they were champions last year and why they are here again this year. They do so many things well on so many levels and we’re going to have to try to match that performance on Sunday. With that being said, our team’s excited. They’ve worked very hard to get to this point.”"
While the easy thing to do here would be to rip on Belichick for not enjoying the moment, it’s actually hard to disagree with what he’s saying. Sure, the Super Bowl is fun for all of us to watch from afar, but it has to be an extremely stressful time for the parties involved.
As Belichick alludes to, the fact that his Patriots have to play an incredible team that’s looking to repeat as champions surely only makes it that much more of a stressful time.
Both Carroll and Belichick led their teams to 12-4 records and a No. 1 seed in their respective conferences this season. The Seahawks defeated the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers in the postseason to advance to the Super Bowl while New England toppled the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts to reach this point.
