Derrick Brooks wants Buccaneers to draft Jameis Winston
By Josh Hill
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers own the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft this year, and Derrick Brooks knows exactly who the teams hold select.
We still have a few months before the NFL Draft starts up, but Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend Derrick Brooks knows how his former team should take. Brooks is a Florida State alumni, so there’s a bit of a bias in his choice but he’s still coming right out with his pre-combine endorsement.

Even though Marcus Mariota is the most popular name in the draft at the moment and the player that any believe is the consensus No. 1 overall pick, Derrick Brooks wants the Buccaneers to draft Jameis Winston.
"“I believe he will show them his work ethic behind the scenes, as well as his knowledge of the game and the feel of the game,” Brooks said. “I do hope he impresses them enough to pick him.”"
Derrick Brooks may be biased after spending his college days at Florida State, but that’s not stopping him from fully vouching for Jameis Winston. Brooks has a lot of weight in the Buccaneers community and while Marcus Mariota is at the top of the list for many fans, the endorsement by Brooks could go a long way.
Of course, those inside the Bucs War Room on draft night might have a different opinion on the Mariota and Winston discussion but it’s not something that is going to go anywhere. Brooks also isn’t the only former Bucs player who will weigh in on the debate as it will be raging until the pick is announced and long after that.
