We have 22 teams hitting the hardwood tonight, which makes for loads of lineup opportunities for us to take our Daily NBA FanDuel leagues by storm. Before you set your lineups today, you may want to make sure your guys are playing. Here is a link to the NBA injury report.
Here are my daily NBA FanDuel picks and lineups for January 31.
First up, your best point guard plays for tonight:
Stephen Curry – $9800
No he is not cheap, but he is definitely worth it. Steph has been on fire over his last 3 games, averaging nearly 47 FanDuel points per night. In addition to that, these two teams are the fastest paced teams in the league. This game boasts a ridiculous over/under of 225 points. Another 45 point performance from him is more than obtainable tonight.
John Wall – $9200
I know, I’m going expensive today, but you have to like John Wall. Over his last five games he is averaging 45 FanDuel ppg, even while having a slight leg injury. Tonight, he is facing a Raptors team that has allowed the 4th most points to opposing point guards over their last 5 games, not to mention they are coming off of a grueling overtime win against the Nets last night. In that game, they gave up 64 fanduel points to Jarret Jack, and Lowry played an exhausting 44 minutes. This looks like a recipe for a big game for Wall.
Zach LaVine – 4000
Bad News: He is listed as a game-time decision tonight due to a rolled ankle
Good News: He came back into the game last night after rolling his ankle, Ricky Rubio is still out, and Mo Williams’s return is still questionable due to a hip injury and “personal reasons”. LaVine’s minutes are increasing each game over his last 3 games. In that span he is averaging 21.3 FanDuel points per game, which is more than a 5x value. If your lineup is stacked elsewhere, this is where you should look. Even though he is playing the Cavs, he only needs to score 16 fanduel points to achieve 4x value, which should be a cake-walk if he gets minutes in the mid-twenties.
Honorable Mention:
Brian Roberts – He hasn’t been flashy or consistent, but with Kemba Walker out, he is going to get minutes and touches in Charlotte
Isaiah Thomas – Until last nights performance, he was averaging over 30 FanDuel points over his last 5 contests, and with the over/under at 225 for this game, I expect him to return to form.
Next: Shooting Guards

James Harden – $11,200
After having a four game stretch of averaging 55 FanDuel ppg, his last 2 have been sup-par for him, amassing a mere 35 fppg. Tonight, however, he goes up against a Pistons team who has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to SG’s over their last 5 games. Look for The Beard to turn things around tonight.
Victor Oladipo – $6900
He has been consistent this season with an average FanDuel score of 27.5 per game. Achieving that should be simple tonight, but I expect more from him against the Mavericks, who rank in the bottom 10 for points allowed to the 2 guard. Monta Ellis cares more about scoring than D.
Rodney Stuckey – $5100
George Hill has yet to take on the minutes that he had when he was starting. CJ Miles has been on a minutes restriction while working his way back to the court from a groin injury. The door is wide open for Stuckey, and he has sprinted through it over his last 2 games with 44 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. That has been good for more than 30 FanDuel points per night. That is a 6x value. In addition to that, the Kings have been terrible against shooters this season, giving up 41.8 FanDuel points per game over their last 5. If his minutes stay up, look for him to stay hot.
Honorable Mention:
Kyle Korver – Korver has quietly averaged 26 fanduel ppg over his last 3. He will get even more touches than that if DeMarre Carroll remains out tonight.
OJ Mayo – His last 4 contests = 27.25 minutes per game and 27 FanDuel ppg. See the correlation? A steal, and good for 5x to 6x value
Next: Small Forwards

LeBron James – $11,300
I said to avoid him last night being his first game back from a wrist injury, and assuming Kyrie Irving would be ball dominant. I was right. He scored 39 FanDuel points, 5 under his season average. Tonight, he faces a Timberwolves team who gave up more than 25 points to Robert Covington a night ago. A Timberwolves team who gives up nearly 36 FPPG to small forwards. 36 ppg is an average for the average small forward. LeBron is far from average, and is expected to be back to his ways of 50 FanDuel point nights.
Robert Covington – $5600
Speaking of this guy, over his last 6 games he is getting 25 Fanduel ppg. Keep in mind that one of those six was a blowout where he only saw about 20 minutes, and scored 9 fantasy points. If you throw out that game, he averages 28 FPPG. He plays the Hawks tonight. There is blowout potential, but with Carroll and his backup, defensive ace Thabo Sefolosha questionable, I expect Covington to stay on this track.
Andre Iguodala – $3900
His price is low and his season average is around 19 FanDuel ppg, which makes him around a 5x value. Golden State and Phoenix are the fastest paced teams in the league, which should only increase his numbers. I expect a greater than average number of minutes, steals, and points (mostly transition) from Iggy tonight.
Honorable Mention:
Wilson Chandler – He had great games followed by 2 average games. He goes against a Hornets team tonight that allows the 2nd most points to the SF over their last 5 games. He should have no problem achieving mid-20s and greater than 4x value
Solomon Hill – Priced at $4000, he contributes enough to an injury-plagued Pacers team to get him 20 FanDuel points each night. He is a 5x value, and is going up against a Kings team who is DEAD-LAST against small forwards over their last 5.
Next: Power Forwards

Dirk Nowitzki – $6800
Even when Dirk shoots 4 of 16, he still finds ways to get you points in the mid-twenties. Germany is nothing if not reliable. The Magic are the worst in the league against power forwards. Dirk may not get you steals and blocks, the defensive liability that he is, but I doubt he will have much trouble against the starting forwards for the Magic who combined for 4 points and 5 rebounds against the Bucks last time out.
LaMarcus Aldridge – $9900
Every time Portland plays, I tell myself to play LMA. But since his recent thumb injury, I have left him off of my posts and out of my lineups. A HUGE mistake. I am now convinced that you could cut off his thumb and he will still give you a 50 fantasy point performance.
David West – $6500
He has been the rock over in Indy, averaging mid 20 to low 30 point FanDuel performances all season long. I wont count on him to cross the 40 mark, but he is the definition of consistency. If you only have 6500 left, he is your safest pick.
John Henson – $4700
Henson is a risky play for sure, but it is 100% worth it considering Ersan Ilyasova and Zaza Pachulia are both unlikely to play tonight. When Henson gets minutes, he stuffs the stat sheet, as he demonstrated last night. The Bucks are short on bigs, and long as Jason Kidd lets the kid play, he will show us all another huge game.
Honorable Mention:
Thaddeus Young – He had an off game last night, but he has been playing great basketball lately, and I expect him to get back to business tonight. Especially with Kevin Love guarding him.
Serge Ibaka – The Defensive Anchor, but he is also a greater offensive option. Especially if KD sits out again tonight. (In case you didn’t check the injurt report – KD is questionable, and did not practice yesterday)
Next: Centers

DeAndre Jordan – $8300
Matt Bonner is starting at Center for the Spurs. He is too slow to keep up with Jordan on offense, and not fast enough to get by him on defense. Tiago Splitter is coming off the bench, if he even plays. He didn’t see the court in the Spurs’ last game. Tim Duncan’s minutes are down to a low of 26 minutes per game in January. Even in the rare times that the Spurs go small and DeAndre has a challenge for the boards, the instances will be just that: rare. I expect him to have free range tonight.
Gorgui Dieng – $7100
4 of his last 5 games have entailed performances of around 35 minutes and 36 fanduel points. He’s showing off 5x value. Scoring may be tough when Timofey Mozgov is on the floor, but he is going to get plenty of minutes, and his defensive stats with minimal offensive scoring should keep him at value.
Honorable Mention
Jusuf Nurkic – $4700
He had a rough shooting streak last night, going 0 for 7. However, prior to that he was averaging 25 FPPG over his last 3. He is starting to see more consistent minutes, around 30, and is a double-double threat whenever he is on the floor.
Next: Tonight's OPTIMAL Lineups

Now, I know my sports, but in no way is my brain capable of taking each of these players, their match-ups, their recent performances, their price, and their projected scores for tonight, and turning them into a solid, winning lineup.
I do, on the other hand, have a computer that can. Last night this computer drafted me a lineup that was good for almost 290 points. That lineup INCLUDED old-man Danny Granger and his whopping 1.7 FanDuel points. If I had anybody else at that position, I would have easily topped the 300 mark.
So without further ado, here is my winning lineup for tonight:
PG | Stephen Curry | vs PHX | 9800
PG | Brian Roberts | @ DEN | 4300
SG | Victor Oladipo | vs DAL | 6900
SG | Bradley Beal | vs TOR | 5800
SF | LeBron James | @ MIN | 11300
SF | Andre Iguodala | vs PHX | 3900
PF | Dirk Nowitzki | @ ORL | 6800
PF | David West | vs SAC | 6500
C | Jusuf Nurkic | vs CHA | 4700 |
