Bettis finished sixth all-time in rushing yards (13,662) after 13 seasons in the NFL. He also rushed for over 1,000 yards in eight of his first nine seasons in the NFL.
Each of the NFL’s top ten career rushers have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame with the exception of Thurman Thomas.
Bettis spent his rookie season with the St. Louis Rams and the following twelve seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
So happy to be amongst the games greatest players!! My Family and I are truly honored and blessed!

With lightning quick feet out of the backfield, the body of a linebacker, and the physicality of an offensive linemen, Bettis was a treasure to have on the offensive side of the ball. His rare skill set allowed him to either put a linebacker on skates or hit the truck stick after bouncing the ball outside.
Bettis led the Steelers to the playoffs six times including a Super Bowl victory in 2005. Following the 2005 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bettis retired as one of the best backs in the game.
After Bettis announced his Hall of Fame induction, he went to Twitter to thank his former team and fans.
I want to thank the my teammates, the @Steelers organization and MOST of all the fans!

Many people thought Bettis got snubbed last year in the 2014 class which included Derrick Brooks, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Walter Jones, Michael Strahan, and Aeneas Williams (via profootballhof.com). This year proved that it was always just a matter of time for the Bus.
Bettis will join the greatest players to grace a football field as the NFL plans to announce his induction along with the rest of the 2015 class during the NFL Honors Ceremony later this evening.
Congratulations to the Bus and all the other inductees of NFL Hall of Fame class of 2015.
