New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick took a selfie with running back Steven Ridley ahead of Super Bowl XLIX.
Bill Belichick is normally looked at as a solemn head coach who is business only with no pleasure, but there are occasional times when fans or players catch him outside of that groove. Today was one of those situations, when running back Steven Ridley took a selfie with him on his cell phone.

Not only is Belichick knowingly in the selfie, he is also smiling and taking an active role in it. It is something that is not seen all that often, but has to be cherished whenever a moment like this is capture.

Belichick is one of the most dominant head coaches that the NFL has seen in recent history, and he is looking to win yet another Super Bowl on Sunday night. He and Tom Brady have been a dominant duo in their tenure with the Patriots, and they figured out how to turn this season around after a slow start as well. At 62 years of age, Belichick may not have too terribly much longer as a head coach in the NFL.
That being said, the Patriots aren’t thinking that far ahead with the current star power being intact that they have had for quite some time.
Throughout his head coaching career with the Patriots, Belichick has recorded a 175-65 record. He also coached the Cleveland Browns before that and went just 36-44.
Selfies aren’t something that Belichick usually finds himself doing, but he is enjoying this Super Bowl weekend. He may not come across as a really nice guy that enjoys having fun, but at the end of the day he is still a human. The Patriots wouldn’t be anything close to the type of dominant franchise that they have been without Belichick leading the way.
Sunday night is going to be a very entertaining duel between Belichick and his opponent on the other sideline, Pete Carroll. They both share a great respect for each other, and Carroll was Belichick’s predecessor in New England to add a bit more fuel to the fire.
Neither team has an “advantage” heading into the game, and they are expected to be very evenly matched teams. It will all come down to which team executes their game plans better, and who makes fewer mistakes.
