Doubles tennis player hilariously hits teammate in the back of the head with a 124 MPH serve at Australian Open.

In the Doubles Final at the Australian Open, Nicolas Mahut hit partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the back of the head with a 124 MPH (200 KMH) serve, according to USA Today‘s For The Win.

Herbert was able to shake off the bruising to the back of his skull and finish the match.

As you can imagine, the duo lost the final in straight sets. When one player starts pelting his teammate in the back of the head with serves, it’s probably safe to assume Mahut didn’t bring his ‘A’ game to the final.

While I’m not the most avid tennis fan, I do watch the big matches on occasion, and I’m very surprised this doesn’t happen very often. In doubles, one player stands, basically, right where their teammate is serving the ball over the net.

These are the best players in the world, experts in their craft, but apparently, it’s pretty easy to lose control of a 100-plus mph serve.

It has not been confirmed that Mahut’s stunt was/was not a promotional event for Kevin Hart’s new, and probably terrible, movie The Wedding Ringer, which features Josh Gad’s character “pulling a Mahut” and hitting Hart’s character in the back with his tennis racket.
