With the Super Bowl airing tonight, the NBA has wisely slated only 2 games today. Many FanDuel users opt out on days like this, due to the small sample-size of players. Although, if you happen to be hardcore like me, odds are you want in: and you want an edge.
Luckily for us, all 4 teams had the day off yesterday. We shouldn’t have to worry about any exhaustion on the court even though the games are early today. Hopefully the day of rest proved well for some of the injured players. Here is an updated list of injuries and players to avoid this afternoon. So, here are my FanDuel NBA Daily Picks and Lineups for February 1 .
Leading off: The Floor Generals
Mario Chalmers – 5400
Most of the point guards playing today will be cheaper, and on the low-end of the scoring. None of them, however, have the upside that Chalmers does. As of right now, Dwyane Wade is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury, and Luol Deng is questionable to play tonight. In his last 2 games out, Chalmers has 31 points, 14 assists, and 5 rebounds. If 2 of Miami’s top scorers are out, look for him to run that high pick and roll with Chris Bosh leading to mid-range jumpers, and assists to the corners a-plenty.
Jordan Clarkson – 4700
I’m not sure where this kid came from, but through his last 2 games getting starters minutes, his stat-line looks like this: 36 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and 6 turnovers. Which comes out to around 30 FanDuel ppg. He will play most of his minutes at the point, but FanDuel still lists him as a 2 guard. He does have to go up against defensive specialist Patrick Beverly, but do the Lakers have anyone else left to shoot the ball?
Some folks have been all over Langston Galloway lately, but he is just way to hit or miss for my liking. When he hits, he’s around 30 FanDuel points, but when he misses, he can go sub-10. He is too high-risk on a day with other cheap options, and only 4 teams in competition.
Next: Shooting Guards

Wayne Ellington – 5200
The answer to my previous question, is yes. The Lakers do have someone else to shoot right now, and his name is Wayne Ellington. His last 2 games read out like this: 51 points, 6 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Those numbers alone are good for 38.8 FPPG. Nick Young is listed as questionable for the game, and even when he isn’t on the injury report, which ‘Swaggy P’ we see is definitely in question. Byron Scott is too smart to keep either of these 2 guys out right now in the midst of their respective hot streaks.
Tim Hardaway Jr – 5200
Over his last 8 games, Tim has been averaging minutes in the mid-20s, and right around 20 FPPG. Melo is back and drawing the majority of the attention for opposing defenses. This should open back up the drive and kick game for Hardaway. Also, the Lakers give up the 5th most FPPG to opposing shooting guards over the last 5 games. With 2 backups starting at guard for them, I expect the same results.
Next: Small Forwards

Carmelo Anthony – 9400
Melo’s last outing was very abnormal for him, scoring only 20 FanDuel points. However, his previous 5 games prior, he averaged over 45 FanDuel PPG. The Lakers are also in the bottom 10 against small forwards. I fully expect him to return to form on this Sunday afternoon. The only thing that concerns me is a blowout that could leave him on the bench in the 4th quarter.
I’d really like to give another option, but I am not terribly confident in any of the other SFs on the roster today. If Luol Deng is going to play, he becomes the must-start. If not, it is a toss up between Lance Thomas and Wesley Johnson.
Next: Power Forwards
Jan 23, 2015; Miami, FL, USA; Miami Heat center Chris Bosh (1) shoots over Indiana Pacers center Ian Mahinmi (28) during the second half at American Airlines Arena. Heat won 89-87. Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports
Carlos Boozer – 5100
The Lakers are thin offensively. FACT. They have had a few good games from their 2nd string guards, but it’s hard to entrust the offensive production on 2 guys who just don’t have a track record of carrying an offense. Boozer, in his day, was a great 4. He could score and board with the best of them. I expect him to be a focal point of Scott’s offense against this Knick’s team.
Jared Sullinger – 6700
He has been solid for the Celtics lately. In his last 10 games, he is averaging 31 FanDuel PPG in around 30 minutes. He is a solid 4.5x value. and should be started!
Chris Bosh – 8100
Bosh has been fairly consistent for the Heat. He averages 34 FanDuel ppg, and minutes in the mid-30s. He has the capability to but up those 45-50 FanDuel games, and with Wade out and Deng questionable, the offense will be running primarily through Bosh and Chalmers.
Next: Centers
Jan 27, 2015; Miami, FL, USA; Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside (21) reacts after being fouled during the second half against the Milwaukee Bucks at American Airlines Arena. The Bucks won 109-102. Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports
Hassan Whiteside – 6200
Hassan has earned the nick-name: ‘Ha-sanity.’ It is much deserved; so far. Lately, he has been a man on a mission. And that mission is boards. Since missing some time with an injury he has been back and hotter than ever. He is averaging 15.3 pts, 17.7reb, and 4.3blk per game since returning. I expect the majority of people will start him today.
Jordan Hill – 6100
If you, however, are one of those rebel types. One of those, shave-against-the-grain type of fellas, than you probably want a different pick. Here it is. Mr. Hill went off for nearly 50 FanDuel points on Thursday night. Prior to that game even, he has been a steady play averaging both minutes and points in the mid twenties. The Knicks have been giving up the 3rd most FanDuel points to Centers over their last 5 games. Now that we see what Hill can do with some minutes, I expect to play around 32, and score about the same.
Next: Tonight's Optimum Lineup

This lineup is based SOLELY on computer predictions. The program takes into consideration the following:
- Player’s average game score
- Player’s recent games scores
- Player’s minutes per game
- Team Matchup
- Position matchup
- Home or Away performances
- Player’s projected stat line
It uses this data to determine which lineup SHOULD offer the most FanDuel points and make me most likely to win. Here are the results.
PG | Langston Galloway | vs LAL | 5300
PG | Mario Chalmers | @ BOS | 5400
SG | Evan Turner | vs MIA | 5900
SG | Avery Bradley | vs MIA | 4900

PF | Chris Bosh | @ BOS | 8100 | ||
PF | Jared Sullinger | vs MIA | 6700

The orginial “optimum lineup”had Deng instead of Johnson. I made the switch for you because Deng is still on the injury report as questionable.
As always, follow me on Twitter to receive up to the miunute lineup changes, and last minute injuries. I may even post one of my FanDuel leagues if you want to try your luck against mine.
Good Luck everyone!
