The Seahawks’ Matthews had a big catch to tie the game at the end of the first half and then had a big catch at that beginning of the second half that gave Seattle the lead.
Matthews of MSNBC wasn’t afraid to show his pride in the young receiver.
While Chris Matthews might be a common name, it’s not every day that a player in professional sports shares your name. So when they’re performing extraordinarily well, especially on a stage as big as the Super Bowl you take notice.
The fact the game was on NBC where the talk show host works, made everyone quickly make the connection between the two.
If the Seahawks win the Super Bowl, their Chris Matthews will be on just about every show. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him on the other Chris Matthews show either.
