Super Bowl 49 has hit the half with the Patriots leading the Seahawks, 14-14
Well the first 30 minutes of Super Bowl 49 is in the books, and while it was not the most eventful first half in the history of the biggest football game of the year, it featured two teams that are just going after one another physically. With those 30 minutes out of the way, Super Bowl 49 is tied all up at 14.
Things in the first quarter got off to a rather slow start, with neither team able to get some points on the board. Late in the opening period, Tom Brady and the Pats seemed as if they were going to punch one in on the Seahawks defense and set an early tone, however that came to a screeching halt when Brady was intercepted in the end zone.
That was a clutch interception by Jeremy Lane, however, at the end of the play, he injured his arm pretty badly and will not be returning to this one.
The second quarter would bring the points, though.
With 9:47 left in the second quarter, Brady would get some revenge on the Seahawks defense for the touchdown they took away from him in the prior quarter, hitting Brandon Lafell with this 11-yard scoring strike, which capped off a nine-play, 65-yard drive.
At this point, Russell Wilson, who had been held without a completion for a good part of the first half, and the Seahawks offense knew they had to answer and answer quickly, and that they did.
Right before the two-minute warning, they would turn to the man that carries the offense at times, Marshawn Lynch, who ran one in from three yards out to cap off a 70-yard drive and tie the game up at 7.
It seemed as if things would go into the half all knotted up at 7, that was until Brady and Rob Gronkowski struck with this scoring hook up to put the Pats back on top.
Everyone at this point thought the Pats would be taking the lead into the locker room, but that was until Russell Wilson hooked up with Chris Matthews to tie it all up, taking a chance when many thought they should have gone for the field goal.
