New information has surfaced that seems to clear the New England Patriots of any wrongdoing in the deflate gate scandal that has rocked the NFL.

The entire deflategate scandal that has gripped the NFL has seemingly reached it’s conclusion and it has nothing to do with the outcome of Super Bowl XLIX. As the world waits for the report that is going to drop in a week that should clear the air as to who was guilty and who wasn’t, some new information has dropped that seems to clear the New England Patriots of any wrongdoing.

More from New England Patriots

According to a report from Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, it appears that the Patriots balls weren’t as deflated as we initially thought

"Eleven of the 12 footballs used in the first half were judged by the officials to be under the minimum of 12.5 PSI, but just one was two pounds under. Many of them were just a few ticks under the minimum."

This isn’t totally conclusive, but the report seems to give a little bit of insight into what the eventual report from the NFL is going to reveal. What this does tell us, is that all of this deflate gate nonsense was no doubt overblown in just about every way humanly possible.

While it gave us a solid opportunity to make seemingly endless ball jokes, it was a topic that got old pretty fast but hasn’t gone away. It’s not surprising at all that this controversy ended up being much ado about nothing, but the fact that it still won’t die is annoying.

All of this will eventually blow over, but this information that we all got worked up over one deflated ball that probably didn’t even matter is more than just eye roll worthy.
