Super Bowl 49 has the makings of the best Super Bowl we’ve witnessed in awhile

Today features perhaps the best Super Bowl in recent memory. Super Bowl 49 features not only the two hottest teams, but the two best teams as well. The Seattle Seahawks come into this game with the best defense in the league and while the 2014 numbers won’t show it, the New England Patriots come into this game with the league’s best offense. It’s not just where these two teams rank in terms of statistics, these two teams feature a ton of characters. That being said, Super Bowl 49 will be the best in recent memory and it will without a doubt be better than the atrocity of a Super Bowl we witnessed last year at Metlife Stadium.

Even though the Legion of Boom is a bit banged up, as Richard Sherman has a bum elbow, Earl Thomas has a shoulder injury, and Kam Chancellor is nursing a knee injury, the Seahawks are still going to play at a high level and although Tom Brady is perhaps the greatest postseason quarterback of all-time, the fact of the matter is that he will be going up the best secondary in the NFL in this game. It’s not just Brady and Seattle’s secondary that makes this game so much fun, players like Rob Gronkowski, Darrelle Revis, and, of course, Marshawn Lynch will all be playing in this game.

When you take look at what the Patriots have done all season, they have gotten the job done by finding receivers across the middle. Inside receivers like Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola may be small in stature, but they’re both about as tougher than any player in the league. Despite that, they will be prone to some huge hits in this game as the Seattle safety combination of Thomas and Chancellor will do their best to make their impacts felt in the middle of the field.

Although this year’s Super Bowl oozes so much talent on both sidelines, one story people don’t really talk about is the head coaching battle between two of the bests in the league in Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick. For the defending Super Bowl-winning Seahawks, you arguably have the league’s up-and-coming coach in Carroll. On the other sideline, you quite possibly have the best coach of all-time in Belichick. Regardless, both have a ton of respect for each other and how these two attack each other in this game will be a spectacle to watch.

Even though the Seahawks are a game away from winning their second-straight Super Bowl, people are forgetting that they have the ability to do something only seven teams have ever done in the history of this sport. The last team to complete the back-to-back Super Bowl feat was, you guessed it, the Patriots in 2004 and 2005. Knowing that the Seahawks could write their name on the history books after this game, they really do have the makings of a dynasty. With a quarterback in place in Russell Wilson as well a defense that is loaded with talent, the Seahawks are going to be here for the long-run and although they struggled in the beginning of the season in 2014, when the lights come in and the games become more vital, the Seahawks show up time and time again.

Thanks, not really, to Deflategate and Lynch’s press conferences, this game really hasn’t gotten a lot of hype. Last year, the narrative was the bad-boy Seahawks, mainly because of Sherman’s post-NFC Championship Game rant, against America’s sweetheart Peyton Manning. It was also the battle of the best defense in the league and the best offense in the league. Even though the Patriots aren’t as explosive on the offensive side of the ball as the Broncos were last year, the reality is that Brady is more clutch than Manning and thinking of Brady only scoring eight points in a Super Bowl is just pure blasphemy.

So with all of that being said America, for the viewers who will watch this game, which I’m guessing will be close to 85% of the country as well as 75% of the world, it’s time to just sit back and watch the game’s biggest stage. The culmination of the NFL season is officially upon us and although we are upset to the season over and it’s sad to watch our favorite players leave through free agency, just know that 2015 season will be here before you know it. The 2014 NFL season has just one game and even though the Super Bowl is the last football game we will see until September, we should know that it features the two best in the league. Knowing that as well as the comical commercials we will watch, Super Bowl 49 has the makings to be the best one we’veĀ witnessed in recent memory.
