Super Bowl 49: Malcolm Butler envisioned making big play (Video)
By Evan Massey
New England Patriots defensive back Malcolm Butler envisioned making a big play before coming up with the game ending interception against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49.
Malcolm Butler put the finishing touch on one of the best Super Bowls in recent history and perhaps in NFL history as well. He was able to step in front of Russell Wilson’s potential game-winning touchdown pass and pick it off to finish the game off.

Needless to say, it was the biggest play of the game and it was a huge surprise after the swing of events. After the Jermaine Kearse catch on the ground, it appears that Seattle would be able to hammer the football into the end zone with Marshawn Lynch. That should have been the game plan, but the Seahawks decided to put the football in Wilson’s hands rather than the most dominant running back in the NFL.
It was certainly a poor decision and one that they would love to have back looking at what ended up happening.
Lynch had already shown the ability to get into the end zone in short yardage situations against the Patriots’ defense and to not put the football in his hands was a major lapse in judgement. Even with how talented Wilson is, they went away from exactly what had gotten them to the Super Bowl in the first place.
Here is a video of Butler talking about experiencing a vision in which he saw himself making a big play in the Super Bowl before the game:
Whether or not he truly did have a vision before the game is something that no one will ever know, but the play cannot be taken away from him. Butler came through on the biggest stage on the biggest play and won the football game for his Patriots.
