Tom Brady may have tied (or passed) Joe Montana for Super Bowl touchdown passes, wins and MVPs, but here’s why Montana is still better than Tom Terrific.

I’ll hand it to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, he put on a heck of a show in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks. He’s completely deserving of the Most Valuable Player award — his third — and was impressive in leading his team to a fourth Super Bowl victory.
But with all due respect to Tom and his accomplishments, he’s still not ready to pass Joe Montana in the realm of quarterbacking – whether it be in Super Bowls or for a career. Brady is great…Montana is legend.
Now before you New England fans start hurling obscenities in a New England lockjaw or launch empty Sam Adams bottles at your screens, or look up a mailing address to send me a 10-day old lobster covered in rancid butter, hear me out.
This is in no way a diatribe against Tom Brady, or any indictment of his abilities with or without a semi-deflated football. This is just a simple comparison showing that as great as Tom Terrific may be, he’s still got a ways to go before he can surpass Joe Montana in greatness.
And there’s nothing to say that Brady won’t one day be better….but for now, it’s Joe.
