Sapp was in Arizona covering Super Bowl 49 for the NFL Network where he works as an analyst. The details regarding the arrest are scarce as the news just broke, so as more details are available we will continue to update the story on FanSided.

The 42-year-old former defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013 after playing in the league from 1995-2007.

He has been working with the NFL Network for the last several years and has long been one of the more outspoken and honest analysts working in the media today.

How much longer he is working in the media could hinge on the details of this arrest, but it may be safe to assume that Sapp won’t be on the air anytime soon for the NFL Network.

Only a few weeks ago, Turner Sports and CBS basketball analyst Greg Anthony was arrested on the same charges of Sapp and was suspended for what he called a “lapse in judgement.”

This is not Sapp’s first run in with the law after a domestic battery charge in 2010 that was eventually dropped and another charge in 2014 for the same offense.

Certainly a shocking turn of events for Sapp who was a fan favorite during his time with the Buccaneers after a dominant career in college with the Miami Hurricanes. He was one of those players who you loved to hate, but at the same time you respected the way he played the game with the passion and intensity he brought every single down.
