The Seattle Seahawks were on the doorstep to a second straight Super Bowl but lost in colossal fashion and ruined parties for Seahawks fans across the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle was on the doorstep to making history by repeating as Super Bowl champions for the first time in the NFL since the New England Patriots did so in 2003-2004.

The Seahawks got a miraculous catch from Jermaine Kearse while laying on his back to get the team in position to take the lead.

Marshawn Lynch ran the ball to the one-yard line moments later and the anticipation began to build for Seahawks fans across the country that an epic comeback and jubilant celebration was about to ensue.

A group of Seahawks fans wanted to document the moment and recorded the events that would unfold as they were taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Fast forward to the 6:50 mark for the moment when Kearse makes his circus catch to take the Seahawks to the five-yard line with time running out. Then let the video play out to hear the “Beast Mode” chant because when you have a back like Lynch you’re going to pound the ball into the end zone and win the Super Bowl, right?

I mean why would you not put the rock in the hands of the player who has scored more rushing touchdowns than any player in the NFL since he became a Seahawks in 2010?

After the Seahawks dropped back to pass on 2nd-and-1 from the 1, Patriots undrafted rookie cornerback Malcolm Brown from Division II West Alabama read the route and jumped in front of Ricardo Lockette to intercept the pass from Russell Wilson and clinch the Super Bowl win for the Patriots.

The Beast Mode chants went silent and you could hear a pin drop as if it were a funeral and they were immediately in a state of shock that progressed to anger to grief to utter disbelief and despair.

Makes you feel bad for these fans, doesn’t it?

Well not if you’re a Patriots fan, but you get the point. We have all experienced gut-wrenching losses as sports fans, I’m still not over the Chicago Cubs losing Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS, but in the words of Marshawn Lynch, I’m thankful there wasn’t video to document my range of emotions.

At least there’s next year for the Seahawks who have the nucleus to make another run at the Super Bowl next season.
