Whether you follow My Twitter, or some other source of NBA updates, you know that around 6:30pm est there were a lot of announcements. Victor Oladipo was in, while Brandon Knight and Kevin Durant were out. If you were affected by the last minute scratches, be sure to keep up to the minute HERE, on the NBA injury report. We have 5 games to select from this evening, so let’s make our picks count. Here are my FanDuel NBA Daily Picks and Lineups for February 3:
Starting, at Point Guard:
Ty Lawson – 8400
Lawson is averaging 34 fp over his last 5 games, which is a value over 4x. Tonight, he goes up against Philly, and they give up the 4th most points to floor generals. Denver is coming off of two big losses, and a slight offensive slump by Lawson. Look for them to turn it around tonight against one of the league’s worst defenses.

DJ Augustin – 7000
I’ve had him in my lineups 3 of the last 4 games he’s played. The one game I didn’t was his terrible game a few nights back. I intend to keep playing him at the right time. He is hot right now, but I don’t foresee another 50 point outing from him. Given the fact that he will be playing big minutes, in what looks like while be a game that goes down to the wire, he should be good for mid-30’s. A 5x value for him.
Trey Burke – 5600
He typically hovers between the 3.5x to 4.5x on any given night. You should only play him when he has a favorable match-up on hand, as he does tonight. Portland has been allowing the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing point guards over the past 10 games. I don’t expect a Russell Westbrook type of performance by any means, but if you’re short on FanDuel cash, he should be a solid 4.5x play as a PG2.
Honorable Mention:
Langston Galloway – 5300:
The only thing consistent about him are his minutes. He will see 32 or more minutes tonight, barring an injury or an OJ Mayo-esque double technical. Over his last 6 outings, half of his games have been over 5x value, the other half have been below 4x. If you need a value play, as the only decent cheap play, I predict he will be used by 65% of players in your leagues; therefore you should be safe with him in 50/50 plays.
Next: Shooting Guards

Wes Matthews – 5800
He won’t get you 45 or 50 fantasy points, but he is having a great stretch lately. Over his past 8 games he is averaging 18.4pts(41% shooting) 3.3 reb, 1.9ast, 1.4 stl, and making 3.8 threes. He’s made at least 3 three pointers in 5 consecutive games, and six of his last 8. Considering how thin it is at shooting guard tonight, and how the Jazz are in the bottom 4 defensively against them over their last 10 games, Wes Matt should be a lock.
Tim Hardaway Jr. – 5000:
Typically, you can expect a 4x value from Tim. Tonight, he faces Boston, a team that gives up the 3rd most points to SG’s over the last 5 games. Avery Bradley has been guarding the PG more often, leaving Evan Turner covering the 2’s. HERE is an article all about Hardaway, and how his production is only getting better from here.
Honorable Mention:
Jodie Meeks – 4000
He is averaging only 17 fantasy points this season, however he has seen a slight uptick in minutes since the Brandon Jennings injury. He goes up against the Heat tonight, one of the kindest teams to opposing guards since the Dwyane Wade injury.
Next: Small Forwards

Robert Convington – 5700
He continues to have games between 4.5 and 5x value, and slowly but surely is becoming a more prominent member of their offense as the season goes on. In addition to his role as a SF, he plays plenty of minutes at the 4 also. Denver is the worst team this season against small forwards, and 2nd worst against power forwards over the past 10 games. Either way, at this price, you should pick him up in tonight’s contests.
Gordon Hayward – 8100
He has quietly been averaging near 40 fantasy points per game over his last 5 games, including a 56 point monster last time out against the fast-paced Warriors. Tonight, he goes up against a Portland crew that gives up the 3rd most points to opposing small forwards. I doubt he will hit 56 again, but 5x, or 40 points isn’t out of reach.
Honorable Mention:
Carmelo Anthony – 9500:
I think he will have more overall points than Hayward, but his price is 1400 higher. If, after you’ve put your lineup together you have the extra 1400 to spend, by all means buy on Melo.
Next: Power Forwards

Chris Bosh – 7800
His price is down a little after two down-games. Tonight, he faces Detroit. Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe are much better post defenders than they are on the perimeter. With Wade still out indefinitely dealing with injuries, the Heat need Bosh to step it up. He will be all over the perimeter making these bigs chase him everywhere, and tiring them out. As long as he can drain his 3’s, look for a 40 fantasy point performance from Bosh.
Honorable Mention:
Brandon Bass – 5300
He has had a few good games lately. Most of that has to do with minutes. His best games come on nights where he sees more than 30 minutes of action. I think that either he or Jared Sullinger could have similar point outputs, but with Bass being the cheaper option, he gets the slot here today.
Jason Smith – 4600
He is finally starting to get solid minutes, averaging in the mid 30s over the Knicks’ last 8 games. Over that span, he is contributing nearly 25 fantasy points per game. The Celtics are the worst team against the PFs this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes off for somewhere around the mid-30s tonight.
Next: Centers

DeMarcus ‘Boogie’ Cousins – 10,900
Except for one 22 point outing a few games back, Cousins has been on fire lately, averaging nearly 50 fantasy points per game. His price is high, but based on my other picks tonight, you should be able to afford him. In addition to his recent high output, he is playing the Golden State Warriors; the fastest-paced team in the league. This means more possessions for the only big man with a usage rate already over 30. It also means more rebounding opportunities for him. He should keep right in line with his recent averages.
Hassan Whiteside – 7000
He has seemingly come out of nowhere to become a household name in the NBA. Although the sample is small, he is coming into the game tonight with the 2nd highest Player Efficiency Rating amongst ALL NBA players; 2nd only to Anthony Davis. Even though Detroit’s bigs are some of the toughest out there, I expect a high output from ‘Has-sanity’ tonight.
