Every head coaching vacancy has now been filled after the Atlanta Falcons hired Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Falcons had to wait to hire Quinn until after the Super Bowl because his team was still playing in the big game.
Since all the new head coaches have now been hired, it’s time to grade and rank each head coaching hire!
Why is it important to examine each new coaching hire? After the Super Bowl, that answer should be fairly obvious. Anyone who had any questions about how much coaching matters in the NFL now knows it can be the difference between a Super Bowl-winning touchdown and Super Bowl-losing interception.
Coaches get the heat when their teams lose, and they rarely get credit when their teams plays well. That’s the gig these coaches sign up for, and they know that going in.
