Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook almost destroys Jeremy Lamb for shorting him a high-five during the fourth quarter against the Orlando Magic

With just under seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter, one of the best guards in the NBA, Russell Westbrook was on the verge of a triple-double, but apparently that wasn’t good enough for Oklahoma City reserve Jeremy Lamb.

More from NBA

As Westbrook walked to the bench during a timeout, Lamb hopped up off the bench and was slapping some fives with his teammates headed to the bench. In a weird twist, Lamb intentionally misses Westbrook’s hand, and Westbrook doesn’t like it at all.

To Lamb’s credit, Westbrook always plays better when he’s mad. When he’s angry at the world, he can take over the game like few players in the NBA can. When he starts smiling and joking around, that’s when Thunder fans have to be worried.

I think that’s what Lamb was doing by intentionally not giving Westbrook a high-five. The Thunder were winning at the time, but they have blown several games in the closing seconds this season. Lamb obviously though he needed to keep Westbrook’s hate up so he would finish the game.

Either that’s the case, or there’s some bigger problems in the Thunder locker room that no one’s talking about. I can’t imagine it’s always easy to keep your cool with a player as fiery as Westbrook on your team.
