The often talked about uniform of the New York Islanders has returned for warm ups tonight

Gorton’s fish sticks are about to get a boost in sales.

More from New York Islanders

Tuesday night, before the Islanders took on the Florida Panthers, the Islanders wore a practice jersey that featured their famous fisherman logo from the mid-90’s.

The jersey featuring a fisherman that closely resembles the one from the Gorton’s brand was often mocked for looking like such and in many ways the jersey became a cult classic amongst uniform lovers and Islanders fans.

With sports teams and their love for bringing back retro jerseys these days, the Islanders were next in line when they brought back the Gorto…fisherman jerseys.

The jerseys ended up providing no luck to the Islanders as they would ultimately fall to the Panthers.

Still, it was great to see one of the bold classic logos that screams the 90’s back on the ice and it’s one all uniform aficionados can appreciate.

The essence of the 90’s in sports uniforms was big, bold and ugly. The Islanders like many teams captured that look and feel.

Even though their logo looked like the guy from Gorton’s and reminds everyone of fish sticks, the jersey is still a classic and one that needs to be on the ice more often.
