Seahawks’ Kam Chancellor played through torn MCL
By Evan Massey
Seattle Seahawks star safety Kam Chancellor played through a torn ACL and bone bruise in their Super Bowl 49 loss against the New England Patriots.
Kam Chancellor is one of the best safety’s in the NFL, and he is the leader for the Seattle Seahawks’ defense. He was able to play in Super Bowl 49 against the New England Patriots, although he had dealt with a knee injury up until that point. It wasn’t reported as anything serious in the Super Bowl injury report, but more information has come up.
According to a report from Around The NFL, Chancellor played with a torn MCL and bone bruise.
Needless to say, playing through that type of injury is impressive in and of itself. Chancellor finished the game with 10 tackles, and was all over the field even with the serious injury.

Seattle is known for being a hard-nosed and tough football team and this news adds on to that reputation.
During the 2014 regular season, Chancellor once again was an impressive all-around defensive back. He ended the year with 78 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception, and six passes broken up. Those numbers are very solid for a strong safety, and it helped back his status up as the NFL’s best enforcer in the secondary.
At 26 years of age, Chancellor still has a lot of excellent football ahead of him. Seattle is going to do everything they can to keep him around long-term, and there aren’t many safeties with the type of power that he brings to the field.
It is going to be interesting to see what will end up happening with the Seahawks this offseason. They will have to figure out a way to re-sign Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson is looking to get a new deal done as well. Outside of those two pressing issues, the Seahawks will also need to figure out how to fill the few holes that they have in their roster.
All of that being said, the Seahawks should be a very solid team once again next year. They are going to be a playoff contender for quite some time if they can keep their core together, and they are very well-managed in the front office.
Don’t expect to see them fall out of contention in the NFC anytime soon.
