Report: John Wick 2 in devleopment
The sequel to the stylized revenge flick John Wick is already in the works.
Fans of John Wick, the intense action film that dropped last year, are in for a treat to hear that the sequel is already in development. Movies.com sat down with the two directors behind 2014’s John Wick and found out that development has begun on a sequel.
John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, is a revenge flick that centers around an ex-assassin who goes back into the killing business after his house is robbed and his dog, given to him by his deceased wife, is murdered.

The movie did pretty well at the box-office, earning nearly $80 million against its modest budget of $20 million. The film was applauded for its thrilling mix of gun play and homage to old martial arts movies.
John Wick was directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, who both worked as stunt doubles on The Matrix trilogy, which also starred Keanu Reeves. The movie marks their directorial debut and I can’t help but feel that their work as stunt doubles in previous movies added the authenticity of the fight scenes presented in John Wick.
The newbie directors hinted that Keanu Reeves might be on board for the sequel, but no announcement has been made quite yet. They told Movies.com that they are focused on keeping the character relatable. Those of you who are just interested in seeing more violence can take a deep breath as the directors stated, “We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original”.
They went on to say that, “It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it’s Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.”
