The Chicago Bulls could be interested in trading talented power forward Taj Gibson, and he has been getting a lot of trade interest on the market with the February 19th trade deadline coming up quickly.

Taj Gibson is a name that Chicago Bulls fans have come to love, and he is without a doubt a starting caliber power forward. Unfortunately for Gibson, the Bulls have Pau Gasol playing ahead of him and a very talented Nikola Mirotic working his way into the rotation as well.

There is a chance that the Bulls will look to deal Gibson ahead of the February 19th trading deadline, especially with the impending deal that they are going to have to give Jimmy Butler. Chicago wouldn’t want to deal Gibson if they didn’t have to, but they may not have much of a choice. If that does indeed end up being the case, it shouldn’t be too terribly difficult to find a trade partner.

According to a report from SportingNews.com, the Bulls have been receiving interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Needless to say, that is a lot of interest with just two weeks left until the trade deadline. It is expected to be a very busy trade deadline, with quite a few teams looking to unload players and just as many teams looking to buy players for a playoff run. The Bulls are in an interesting position of being caught between winning now and also needing to cut some money for the future.

Gibson has been having yet another solid season for the Bulls coming off of the bench. He is averaging 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. Those numbers would look very good for quite a few different teams, and he would immediately improve them with the added minutes of being a starter.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on over the next couple weeks, especially if the Bulls decide to openly make Gibson available for trade.

Chicago isn’t going to make a trade just to make a deal, but they would move him if they get back team-friendly contracts that can also help them win. It isn’t going to be easy to pry Gibson away from them, but it does appear that it is possible.

Expect to hear Gibson’s name come up fairly often as the trade deadline rumors begin to heat up.
