The Atlanta Hawks are interested in signing veteran shooting guard Ray Allen, as they look to make another move to improve their roster for a playoff run.
Ray Allen has been a name that has come up throughout the course of the season so far as a free agent, and there have been plenty of teams that have shown interest.
The latest team to show interest in signing Allen, is the red-hot Atlanta Hawks.
Hearing Atlanta trying to get in the Ray Allen mix. Cleveland still the favorite. Look for decision after All-Star break.

Simply thinking about Allen coming off of the bench in Mike Budenholzer’s system is a scary thought. Allen is the best three-point shooter in NBA history, and the Hawks run a system that can get any shooter that they want open. It would be a very good deal for both sides, and Atlanta does look like a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference.
So far this year, the Hawks are sitting at 41-9 and are first place in the East. They have put together a very complete basketball team, and adding Allen to the rotation would make them even deeper. His veteran leadership and winning experience would also be a very valuable addition for the Hawks.
Allen played with the Miami Heat last season alongside LeBron James, and has been strongly considering retirement this year. He averaged 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, and shot 37.5 percent from behind the arc.
Atlanta is very smart to see if they can convince him to join for one more run at a championship, and they are one of the teams that he would likely consider. They have proven throughout the year that they are a legitimate threat rather than just a team off to a quick start, and they have all of the pieces to compete with a team like the Cleveland Cavaliers or Golden State Warriors.
That being said, Allen has been very hesitant to jump back into the NBA. Even James has found it nearly impossible to talk to him about returning, which is saying a lot. Atlanta has their work cut out for them if they truly are sold on convincing Allen to come back for one more half season.
At 39 years of age, this is probably the last chance for Allen to put his shoes back on and get out on the court. His career is coming to an end, and may already have completed.
