The Hall of Fame career of Jerry Rice may not have been all it was racked up to be, as the receiver has admitted to using illegal means to get some of the stats he amassed.

Jerry Rice is widely regarded as the best wide receiver in NFL history, but now that he is reminiscing about his career, the truth about a few things are starting to come out.

A few years ago, Rice burped and spit up all over himself when he said that the Oakland Raiders basically forfeited Super Bowl XXXVII to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but this time he’s burping and spitting up all over his own career and statistics.

In a Vine posted by CBS Sports’ John Breech, Jerry Rice admits that he used ‘Stickum’ on his gloves at times during his career in the NFL — one that has been regarded as the finest by any wide receiver ever.

Jerry Rice says it might have been a little illegal — but realty it’s a lot illegal. The NFL banned Stickum and all substances like is in 1981, four years before Rice began his Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers.

This isn’t just something to skate over, as Jerry Rice is not only admitted that most of his career may or may not be a total sham but he’s laughing about it like it’s not a big deal. GO ask Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and other baseball juicers how funny their destroyed legacies are after it was revealed they too cheated to boost stats.

Rice’s speed and agility are not on trial here, but his catch total is, which may be a lot less than the 1,549 it is now. And how many of his 22,895 career yards were attained by illegally caught balls? How many games, playoff matches, league championships and Super Bowls were altered by illegally caught balls by Rice?

See the slippery slope this becomes?

This seems like a debate no one wants to have, but this is the point of debates about the integrity of the game like we just had about Deflategate. Rice, who was an outspoken critic of the Patriots for cheating, apparently built a Hall of Fame career off of doing the same thing — and he’s just as hypocritical as the lot.
