The New York Knicks are going nowhere fast this year, and as they continue to dump fuel overboard it appears Amare Stoudemire may be the next to go.
Back in January, the New York Knicks made a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers that basically fleeced the roster and the front office in a clear effort to shed salary. That was the first indication that the Knicks were dumping fuel overboard on their way to tanking this season but the J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert trade was not the last attempt at doing this.

Amare Stoudemire and his obscene contract have been the subject of much chatter this season in New York. He was almost traded to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in the offseason and his name has been coming up in trade rumors ever since.
According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Knicks are looking into the possibility of buying Stoudemire out after the All-Star Break and just prior to the buyout deadline which shortly follows the February 19th trade deadline.
Stoudemire seems open to the idea of a buyout, at least according to the piece that Spears published that brings all of this information to light.
"“All possibilities at this point are still open,” Stoudemire said of his own buyout possibility. “The door is still open for that. But at the same time, I am with the Knicks now. I got to stay optimistic about things and what we are doing here. I can’t really focus on the future because it’s not here. We still have a couple weeks left before it’s all said and done. It’s a decision I have to make with my family to figure out the best scenario for the near future.”"
The Knicks aren’t sold on buying out Amare Stoudemire, at least not yet. His contract is pretty hefty though and his usefulness to the team is rather low. Still, a veteran like Stoudemire won’t last long on the buyout market as a contending team like Miami, Cleveland or even the Los Angeles Clippers could clear roster space to make room for him this postseason.
