Orlando Magic try new strategy: 6-on-5 (Video)
By Phil Watson
The Orlando Magic are playing their first game Friday night under interim coach James Borrego and against the Los Angeles Lakers, they tried something new.
Maybe if former Orlando Magic coach Jacque Vaughn had thought of this, he’d still have a job.
In their first game since firing their third-year head coach on Thursday, the Magic had a little bit of a mix-up on their rotation of players Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Give rookie forward Aaron Gordon some credit for trying to address the situation, but his sprint off the court was pretty hard to miss.

The Magic were hit with the technical foul for having too many players on the court.
The confusion happened midway through the fourth quarter. During a dead ball, the Lakers made a couple of substititions and Borrego countered by sending in Tobias Harris to take Gordon’s place.
Gordon, though, missed the memo and remained on the court.
All was well that ended well, however. Orlando snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 103-97 overtime win over the Lakers, sending L.A. to its 12th loss in its last 13 games.
For the Magic, it was their first victory since a 120-113 win at home over the Houston Rockets on Jan. 14 and their record “improved” to 16-37.
Los Angeles is now 13-37 on the year.
